While these have yet to get planted (stupid job, stupid weather), Mom and Dad had some plants shipped to me.
This one is called Coreopsis rosea or “Sweet Dreams”. It starts off as it is in the picture, then the raspberry color seeps down the petals until the flower is now raspberry. Kick ass.
They also sent me a plant in the same genus, but is called Heavens Gate and the flowers remain white with the raspberry color inside.
I also have this birch hybrid, called a bellflower.

A bit closer now, what a peculiar creature…

Oh, it’s just a harmless little lizard!

What’s that about saving money on insurance? Um, right, yeah, I have to go over here now because someone is trying to eat my raspberries.

(Actually, I’m hoping this bugger will scare away the little nibblers. Because SOMEONE ate my strawberry.)
And if anyone knows where I can get some “C” sized batteries, this stone lights up.

And now we have a full-fledged War of the Flamingos on our hands. Back when we all lived together, Dad was VERY green thumbed with his pond. Pristine even. So, to rattle his cage, I would sneak pink flamingos into his landscaping. Examples: There was Chip, the whirlygig and the children’s sprinkler with flapping flamingo arms.
Once they reached a magical age, I bumped up my game.
Now it’s a battle royal.
Example:

And of course, the one year we don’t plant a veggie garden, it rains like no ones business and I get a wonderful sprinkler from our friend Joe. “I look forward to trying it once it stops raining.”

Hopefully this weekend I can get my new plants in and the whole area behind the sprinkler will be different. We’ll see though. It needs to stop raining.
